Kale Chips Recipe for College Grads
As a college grad, one of my favorite snacks to make at home is kale chips. Not only are they really easy (and quick) to make, but also they are very healthy. They’re crunchy and salty like potato chips, but kale is high in nutrition and low in calories. Not only are they high in fiber, which keeps your digestive system in check, but they’re also high in Vitamin A (great for vision and skin health) and cancer-fighting Vitamin K as well as antioxidants. There are different varieties of kale, but most only cost a few dollars per bunch and you can make chips with any of them. The most common type, pictured below, is curly kale, which is mild and a bit sweet.
Fives Steps to Make Tasty Kale Chips
This recipe is perfect for your life after college as it requires minimal ingredients, appliances, and it’s cheap! You will need an oven, baking sheet, mixing bowl, kale, olive oil, and salt. And that’s it.
Step 1: Heat the Oven to 350 Degrees
While the oven is preheating, you can move onto step two.
Step 2: Wash and Tear Kale
The ripped kale should be about the size of your palm before it goes in the oven.
Step 3: Season the Kale
In a large bowl, sprinkle the kale with a few tablespoons of oil and use tongs to mix it up so it spreads evenly. I use olive oil, grapeseed oil or walnut oil and sea salt. You can also change up the flavoring by adding mustard or curry powder, pepper, garlic salt, hot sauce, grated cheese, etc.
Step 4: Lay Out The Kale
In a large bowl, sprinkle the kale with a few tablespoons of oil and use tongs to mix it up so it spreads evenly. I use olive oil, grapeseed oil or walnut oil and sea salt. You can also change up the flavoring by adding mustard or curry powder, pepper, garlic salt, hot sauce, grated cheese, etc.
Step 5: Bake for about 10-15 minutes
Bake the Kale for about 10-15 minutes or until crisp. Once done, remove from the oven, let the Kale cool down and enjoy!
