As a design entrepreneur, I look at different ways to change the world. How can we make life easier? How can we make this a better place? Whether it is communication, safety, or simple products that can make you smile, I find “design” to be a part of life. To everything that you own or use, there was a designer behind that product who made it a reality. It is important to appreciate the art of innovation, creativity: the exploration of design.

How To Get Into The Field:
I have a degree in International Business Administrations. To be honest, I was never strong in my academics; however, I've always had the ambition and drive to be successful. I didn't really have a direction post graduating and I ended up worked in sales and finance for a car dealership. I then saved up money to start my own business. Today I own and manage a venture firm that professionalizes in helping others to accelerate their own businesses. We aid different start-ups in transforming ideas into tangible and solidified products or services. I also own and manage Halo Belt Company, a business in saving lives using fiber optic safety equipment. www.halobelt.com.
What Do You Really Do?
My day consists of a little bit of everything. Since I work from home, or a coffee shop, or anywhere with wifi, I am able to fully utilize my time in the way that I want.In my agenda, every morning, I ship international orders of the HALO fiber optic safety belt. Not only do I manage a team that promotes sales and distribution for HALO, it is important to build the company into an internationally known brand. I also spend a lot of time working on different investment projects I have on the side.
Pros/Cons of Your Job
I love that I have my own schedule and I don't have to work for someone else. I am my own boss and I have full control over my financial future. However, owning my own business is not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, and drive in order to be successful. I have had a lot more failures than successes and it sometimes gets discouraging. Many people do not realize, being a business owner means you work 24/7. You can't walk away or clock out at the end of the day. You are there because you are willing to take the risk and willing to work hard for a better future. It is not a job for everybody.
What's it Like to Live Here?
What I love about being in California is obviously the weather. I decided I couldn't live in the rainy UK anymore (where I went for college). San Francisco is home to many start ups fueled by entrepreneurs. The Bay Area is full of culture and diversity. We are exposed to this wonderful community that is not only changing the world in modern society, but we also embrace the roots from which we come from. To me, this is what life is about.
How Did I End Up Here?
I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. I lived in San Jose CA and attended San Jose State University (SJSU) for two years. I then moved and lived in the UK for a short period of time. But the gloomy and rainy weather in the UK was a big turn off. And after my schooling, I moved back home. I currently am living back in San Francisco, the GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD. ;)
My Set-Up
When I moved back to the states after living in England, I was completely broke with only $150 to my name. I literally begged my mom to let me move back into her house. Now I choose not to leave because I love living with a big family. It's also nice to see my 95-year-old grandma everyday. I should probably sell my porsche and buy a house this summer. LOL.
