Cvent offers a great entry level position for college grads interested in sales. Cvent offers great career development opportunities: new hires are trained in a class setting with others their own age (just like in College), and are given access to incredible sales resources and knowledge. Cvent has easy access to upper management (who have an open-door policy).

Opportunities for College Grads:
Structure: Cvent has a structured program for all of its new hires. College grads working at Cvent move from pre-sales to a direct-sales role. After the 8-week training period, the new hires are introduced to their team/group (based on department). A mentorship program is also in place allowing an upper business development employee to oversee new hires and answer any questions.
Growth Opportunity: Cvent has a large growth opportunity (based off of performance). Employees in the company have been moving up at an accelerated rate (average is usually 18 months). As mentioned previously, an employee moves from pre-sales to direct sales to managing their own team.
Learning Opportunity: Cvent offers great learning opportunity to its employees. After the new hire training program, a top-level manager shadows an employee every other week and provides guidance to better his or her sales process. Specifically, the manager watches the employee make calls and provides suggestions on what the employee does right/wrong. By working at Cvent, employees learn how to sell (over the phone, at trade shows, and on-site visits).
What Do College Grads Do Here?
College grads are hired into the Pre-Sales position. This position revolves around phone sales: receiving leads from RFP (Request for Proposal) and contacting the leads to set up presentations for the direct sales team to close a deal. Additional tasks include running reports in Excel to help convince people to buy.
What Kind of College Grads Would do Well Here?
The qualities of an employee that would do well include the following: good time management skills, self-driven, competitive (you need to meet your sales quota for the team), comfortable speaking on the phone, outgoing personality, willingness to talk to people all day.
What is Cvent?
Cvent is a leader in event management technology providing a platform of solutions that allow people to handle all aspects of their event under one main account. Cvent primarily is a cloud-based software-as-a service that enables users to manage their meetings. Cvent is for anyone from small third party planners to associations to Fortune 500 Companies. Cvent customizes its cloud based software to fit the uses of anyone looking to hold a meeting or event. Its main focus, however, is in the hospitality industry.
Cvent's Culture?
Cvent has a very fun and young culture as 90% of Cvent employees are under the age of 25. Everyone in the company is very supportive and willing to help. Each department has a quota to reach and some competition exists between the different departments. Even so, communications and cross-selling occur very often between departments. Because Cvent offers incentives to meet quotas, the company culture is competitive but fun at the same time. In addition, due to the similar age (all college grads), Cvent employees often hang out together outside of work (such as at nightly happy hours).
Cvent's Mission
Cvent's mission is to be the leader in event management technology and to provide the tools to do so.
Think about and be able to answer "why sales?" over other jobs. They want people that have an answer to this question - people who are driven to sell. Also be able to answer "Why do you want to be in the technology industry?" They are looking for people who can be casual and professional at the same time (not formal). It's a fun culture.
